I’m probably not supposed to admit this, but I’ve had it up to here with Apple’s new haute couture cell phone/music player/Web-browser/PDA/heaven-on-earth/status symbol. Yes, I’m talking about the iPhone, which finally — thank goodness — goes on sale today at 6 p.m.
Why 6 p.m. on a Friday?
It probably won’t affect rush-hour traffic since most people eager to get their hands on AT$T’s (oops, I meant AT&T’s) exclusive toy are already in line. If not, they’re too late. However, to be safe, I plan on mapping a route home from work that completely avoids my nearest Apple store.
My iPhone predictions:
- It will sell out in 17 minutes
- At 6:45 p.m., there will be a massive overload of iPhoners on the highways, clogging both automotive and cell phone traffic
- Someone will get robbed for their iPhone
- I will not have one
Question: So, OK, the phone is touch-screen only. There is a lock function to turn off the screen when you make a phone call so your face doesn’t tap in random commands. Does that mean users have to lock and unlock the screen every time they make a call? That hassle annoys me already.
Correct me if I’m wrong in the comments. Is this thing really as rad as advertised?
